Q. WHAT
EQUIPMENT IS USED?
A. I use
35 mm film or digital cameras for most of the photos, for
their quick action,
Canon 1V, Canon 1Ds Mk2 and Leica, and a 120 roll film camera
for some of the group photos. The larger negative holds the
detail better
for
group
photographs. Kodak NC 160 is my film of choice and an excellent
film for this photography. Digital scans can easily
be made from the film and I provide all the images in small
files (about 50k) on CD for computer use. I keep the equipment
as simple as possible so that I can be inconspicuous, quick
and not intrusive. I have a good time using these fantastic
cameras with their excellent lenses, so convenient after using
larger format cameras in the past.
Q. HOW DO
I BOOK YOU?
A. Just
call me any time on my cell phone 617 875-3352 and leave
a message
(it does not always work, especially in northern NH) and I
will return the call so we can talk about what you would
like and if I am
the right photographer for you. If the date is available and
all seems right, then send a $500 deposit which will secure
the date. Your deposit is FULLY refundable for 10 days if
for
any reason you would like to change. If you need to change
the date and I am available then I am happy to make the changes.
Q. WHAT
ABOUT TRAVELLING TO OTHER STATES?
A. I have
photographed weddings in MA, CT, ME, VT, NH, NM and in England
and France. Lincoln, MA, The Mt Washington Hotel,
NH, and Lake Sunapee areas are very friendly to me and
I really like photographing there, but I am comfortable in
Europe and England too.
Q. WHAT
ABOUT FORMAL PHOTOS OF THE GROUPS?
A. Definitely!
I think it is important to have some photos of your families,
together and individually. Only a few are needed, but they are
important and only take a few minutes once everyone is gathered,
and it is fun. Then I make all kinds of other naturally forming
groups during the day. The "formals" can be made inside
or out, wherever the setting looks good. Oh! yes, if you like,
please send me a list of any groups or special people to include.
Q. HOW ARE
THE PHOTOS/CDs PRESENTED?
A. The prints
are made on Kodak professional paper to a very high standard
by a lab specialized in wedding photography. The prints are
4x6 inches, each numbered and all the images are also scanned
onto CDs for computer use. Enlargements and digitally retouched
prints are all available and made to suit your need, all of
the highest quality. The negatives are yours and available to
you at any time, although I usually hold them for a while to
make any enlargements so that the quality is consistent.
Q. CAN WE
MEET
A. Sure,
if we can, but we can also talk by phone. I will dress appropriately
on your wedding day, suit and tie, and get on well with your
families and guests. You can see some of my work on this site,
and as I have more I will add to this. I have photographed hundreds
of weddings, but only recently kept copies to make this web
site. Here is a photo of ME
Q. DO YOU
HAVE AN ASSISTANT?
A. No. I
find assistants to be a distraction from paying attention to
the interactions and activities that are important. Dealing
with a videographer is enough because they are either over my
shoulder or opposite me in the background!
Q. WHAT
ABOUT GUEST PHOTOGRAPHERS?
A. I encourage
guests to take photos as long as they don't stand right behind
me and get knocked over when I step back!
Q. CAN YOU
MAKE A PORTRAIT OF US BEFORE THE DAY?
A. YES!
I think one of the most important portraits of your lives is
the one made around your wedding. I often make a black and white
portrait with a large camera for really fine image quality.
This is not only an important photo for the next generation,
but a great gift to give to parents. I have sometimes matted
the photo and left it at the reception for all the guests to
sign, an amusing touch! Please call to arrange this.
